I mentioned a couple weeks ago that Lexmark had announced 42 new printer models. Along with those new printers comes new toner, which Lexmark is calling Unison Toner. Now, normally, I realize that announcements of new toner cartridges are not something particularly newsworthy. Toner cartridges really haven’t changed substantially over the years in terms of functionality. But these new cartridges from Lexmark actually have some pretty innovative new features that I think bear mentioning.
Innovative New Toner Technology
Documents printed with Unison Toner look great because of its uniquely engineered toner formulation. Not only that, but because of this formulation, Unison starts printing sooner than Lexmark’s previous toners, so you won’t waste time waiting for documents to print.
In monochrome, Unison Toner delivers rich black and smooth grays with crisp details. In color, Unison Toner delivers rich, vibrant color with precise details enhanced by Lexmark’s calibration technology for the Pantone® color system. This is huge for graphic designers or anyone else that needs to print materials with an exact color match.
The toner also prints until it’s empty. In other words, every bit of toner is used, and even when the cartridge is low, there’s no fading and no need to shake the cartridge to squeeze out a few more pages.
Long-Life System Reliability
Unison Toner’s unique low-friction qualities increase toner flow, and contribute to its ability to transfer efficiently to the page. Unison Toner reduces internal wear on long-life components and protects the print system.
Speaking of the print system – Unison Toner has a separate toner and imaging unit design and a high-yield fuser – this maximizes the longevity of these components and delivers long-term reliability, ultimately saving time, money and the environment.
Amazing Sustainability
Unison Toner takes a revolutionary leap forward in sustainability. According to a Life Cycle Study by an independent firm, Unison’s cartridge technology has a per-page carbon footprint that is as much as 46% smaller than Lexmark’s largest competitor.
And, Unison uses less energy than Lexmark’s previous toners because it prints at a lower temperature.

For Up To Date Availability Please Call PMI
Both the new printers from Lexmark as well as the Unison Toners are just starting to hit the market as I write this. (Keep in mind that these toners are made to work with the new lineup of Lexmark printers, and not on older models.) The entire new lineup should be readily available by the middle of December. Also note, you will still be able to get toners for existing Lexmark printers for the foreseeable future.
If you would like more information about Lexmark printers, or Unison Toners, please contact a PMI rep. We have a strong relationship with Lexmark, and can get a prompt answer to any Lexmark-related inquiry you may have.
